Martin Luther King Jr once said "A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom.

This statement is extremely relevent in America. The goverment is spending 18 billion dollars per month. On the other hand monroe county community school corporation has a Yearly budget of 68 million dollars; so we are still aproaching spritual doom. In fact we are probably much closer than we were when he said this. For example children can access porn and methods of getting high with very little effort. Also, people use much worse language.

Dr. King also said, "Human progress is neither inevitable nor automatic. Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals."

Since Dr. King spoke these words over years ago, much progress has been made toward the goal of justice by many hardworking people. For example, a black man will soon be sworn in as president. This may be the most important event in the 21st century. Another great thing that has been done is that blacks have the same rights as anyone else.

In his "I Have a Dream" speech, Dr. King hoped, "Chrildren will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

Young people who want to advance the cause of justice can recycle plastic, glass, and etc. to help save the planet. They can work together to save the world as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did, but in a different way.
